Gas, Arc, Tig, Mig, Metal Fabrication


Introduction and Advanced classes. 


A Unique Experience. Light a Flame!

2 hour sessions and workshops.

  • Location: Brooklyn Navy Yard, Bldg. #280 Studio #613 
  • If Driving, enter at The Flushing Ave, and Cumberland Gate.
  •  First stop in Brooklyn by subway. There is a free Navy Yard shuttle that stops by both the F and A train in Dumbo. It comes every 10 minutes and will let you off by Building #280.
  • A Gate Pass will be emailed the day before the Welding session.
  • Welding gear, gloves, and goggles, are all supplied and included with session. 
  • Metal and Welding materials are included for regular instruction and classes. 

Scheduled Welding Classes Brooklyn

The Studio is heated and has open Windows with a View of  The Waterfront. 

Safety is always a priority.


In all welding Classes we will wear a mask. Torches, tools, goggles, and welding helmets,  are sanitized before each class. Welding gear and gloves are supplied.  All scheduled classes are limited to 2 students. Individual attention is given. 


What to Wear to Class

  • Wear clothes that can get dirty. 
  • Closed Toe shoes or boots with Heavy Cotton Socks. Leather or Suede shoes or boots is preferable for Welding.  Do not wear Shoes or Sneakers with a thin synthetic covering on top.  Sparks can burn thru thin material. 
  • Wear  A Cotton Long Sleeve Shirt and  Jeans.   Bring  A Cotton Sweatshirt.

                                                      Available for both Individual and 2 person classes.



Scheduled Sessions    $215          per person  for 2 hour session

All Classes are / " limited to 2 people" - for a focused session


Weld / Connect / Bond -  together.    $400       2 people for 2 hour session

A discount is offered  when purchasing  a class for 2 people. Take a class with a friend, family, or as a unique "Date Night Out".   Share this Unique Experience. Dinners in restaurants will be forgotten. This will not.  Request a Date and Time of your choosing.


Individual Instruction     $285         for 2 hour session  

 (an additional $10 fee for Tig )                                                     

The focus of a session can be customized to suit your goals and technical preference. 

Additional hours may be added to a session.  Request a Date and Time of your choosing.

- If you are coming from far or want to work on a project, half and full day workshops  are available. Learn more than one technique on the same day. 


Prepayment required. 

Cancellation Policy: Cancel  up to 48 hrs. before class and request another time.

Intro to Gas Welding / with a Mask

Brazing  / create a small sculpture        

In this class you will learn how to use oxy-acetylene tanks, set a flame, braze with brass brazing rod. While learning these skills, you create a unique small sculpture to take home. 

We will discuss the many advantages of gas welding. Great technique for combining metals

Mig with a Mask / create  a small sculpture

In this class you will: set the machine, tack, and run a steel bead. While learning these skills, you will create a unique small sculpture to take home. We will discuss the many advantages of Mig welding when setting up your own shop, creating furniture, art, fabrication. et

                 April 30          6-8 p.m.                      Friday   

         

It is recommended that you take Gas or Mig  first /  Before  the Courses  below.

               

Introduction to Arc / Stick  Welding   / focus is on technique

In this class you will learn how to strike an arc, run a bead, set the machine. We will discuss the many advantages of arc welding. Arc welding is used in construction, furniture, etc. / on both thick and thin metal.  It is the "strongest" method, inexpensive, portable, and does not require a back up gas.  This is not a certification course.

Intro to Tig Welding on steel   /  focus is on technique

In this class you will learn how to use a  Tig  welder, set the machine, choose a tungsten, use the foot pedal.  We will discuss the many advantages of tig welding when setting up your own welding space for art, furniture, or business. Tig welding is a popular method used in bicycles frames, motorcycles, aircraft. If done correctly, it is a thing of beauty.

Introduction to Gas Steel Welding / create a small sculpture

Oxy-acetylene  welding has many advantages. It is portable, and  not expensive to set up. 

Welding with a Steel filler rod and bending bar will be the focus of this class.  It is recommended that you take "Introduction to Gas Welding" first - to learn brazing
